Upgrade and Activation of the Old Administrative System
Subject: Discontinuation of Microsoft IE Browser Updates and Usage, resulting in the inability to use the (old) administrative system. We kindly ask all colleagues in the university to cooperate in installing software updates.
(1) System Limitations: The old administrative system of our university can only be run on the IE browser due to its outdated development.
(2) Potential Issues: The discontinuation of the IE browser by Microsoft will cause the old administrative system to become non-functional, leading to security concerns.
(3) Solution: After six months of research and evaluation of various solutions, the Information Services Department has identified the optimal solution considering factors such as upgrade costs, system quality, and time constraints. After multiple experiments and verifications, the software development and testing were completed on January 13th, 112th year. This upgrade software will be available for use by all faculty and staff in the university.
(1) No system compatibility issues and effective mitigation of security concerns.
(2) Adoption of a Client-Server architecture, enhancing system performance.
(3) Reduction in system crashes, leading to improved system stability.
(1) MAC (iOS) Operating System: Unable to execute directly. Please use the software cloud to access the old administrative system (refer to Attachment 2 for the HGU Software Cloud user manual).
(2) VPN Configuration Required for Off-campus Usage: Log in to the VPN webpage (refer to Attachment 3 for the HGU VPN installation and configuration instructions).
(1) Internal Extension: 2284, Information Services Department Service Desk.
